****BEING ON A COMMITTEE PAYS AND PAYS AND PAYS****
The HBIA has several committees that need YOU! Please lend your experience and expertise to one (or more!) of these committees.
Membership Committee: This is the FUN committee! Our goal for 2009 is to increase membership retention and to one of the ways we’re doing that is… we plan the General Membership Meetings, Picnics, Golf Tournaments, Christmas Parties--all the fun stuff! We meet at 8:30 am the first Thursday of each month at the HBIA office. Come join us!
Governmental Affairs Committee: We work with the city and county on land use regulations, development standards and building codes. We work to improve circumstances for the building industry and could use your input. We meet at 4pm the first Tuesday of every month at the HBIA office.
Parade of Homes Committee: We meet the 4th Thursday of each month, here at the HIBA office. Come plan one of the most exciting events of the year! The Steering Committee meets at 3pm, and the Builders meet at 4pm. Please call Elaine if you’re interested in helping on this committee.
HBIA Helping Hands Community Enrichment Committee: This is the HBIA’s newest committee. We focus on community outreach. Is there someone down on their luck who needs help with their home repairs? Does a local charity program need a new roof? What can we do to give back to the community? We meet for a brown bag lunch at noon the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the HBIA office.
Education Committee: We discuss the classes for becoming a Certified HBIA Builder and Certified HBIA Associates, and determine what programs we can bring to the table to increase our members knowledge in the areas which they’re interested. We meet the first Wednesday of every month at 11am at the HBIA office.
Green Build Committee: We go over the plan and implementation process for bringing Green to the mainstream. We meet the third Thursday of every month at 4pm at the HBIA office.
If you’d like more information about any of these groups, please contact your HBIA office at 449-3358 and we’ll be happy to get you set up.

NAHB National Membership Day Results
We appreciate your creative and successful efforts in recruiting for the Big Hunt Membership Campaign! At the end of the day, May 20th, new membership pledges totaled 6,939—a combination of new members and council members. To many, that number was encouraging, particularly in today's uncertain economic climate.
North Carolina and Florida, with 780 and 745 new members respectively, captured the number one and two spots in the race to boost membership numbers in individual states. Texas and Wisconsin came in third and fourth. The highest-performing local HBAs were Helena (Montana) BIA, which added an impressive 266 new members, followed by MBA of King and Snohomish Counties, in Washington state, close behind with 210. Below is a more complete list of top performers.
